Letting in Danube Delta
Rules and licensing
Guesthouses are classified as pensiuni turistice and, inside the biosphere reserve, are also subject to the reserve administration’s rules on building, boats and waste. Guests need an access permit — 5 lei a day, 15 lei a week — which most hosts buy on their behalf and which is worth saying so in the listing.
Tourist tax
A small per-night local charge, plus the reserve access permit, which is separate and is not a tax.
How the year is shaped
Brutally seasonal. May and June for the birds, July and August for families, and effectively nothing from November to March, when some villages have no ferry most days.
Who books here
Birdwatchers and photographers in spring, Romanian families in high summer, anglers throughout. Full board is the norm rather than the exception, and a boat and a boatman are what the booking is really for.
Short-term rental rules change often and can differ by district, and building or condominium rules may restrict letting regardless of what the city permits. Treat this as orientation, not legal advice, and confirm the current position with the local authority before letting.
