Apply online before travel; visa-on-arrival is officially discontinued and airlines increasingly refuse boarding without an approval letter. A yellow fever certificate is mandatory. If Kenya or Rwanda are on the same trip, the $100 East Africa Tourist Visa covers all three.

How to get it: Apply at visas.immigration.go.ug, upload the yellow fever certificate, and carry the printed approval. Gorilla permits are booked separately through the Uganda Wildlife Authority and sell out months ahead.
