Getting treated
The care is excellent and the bill is the risk. There is no universal system, an ambulance ride alone can run into four figures, and an uninsured hospital stay can be genuinely ruinous. Comprehensive travel insurance with a high medical limit is essential — this is the one destination where skipping it can cost more than the trip by an order of magnitude.

Food tip
Very goodClam chowder, lobster roll (cold with mayonnaise here, warm with butter in Maine, and people have opinions), and oysters from Wellfleet. The North End is Italian and the queue outside Mike's Pastry is for cannoli, though Modern Pastry across the street is the local answer.
Nightlife
Old pubs, a very large student population, and a city that closes earlier than any other on the east coast.

- Cambridge — Harvard and Central Square, for the student night
- Fenway — before and after a game, which is its own event
