Required is not recommended: the first is what the border asks about, the second is what a clinic would suggest. Both, for Slovenia, then the number to dial and what care costs a visitor. Applies to every guide in Slovenia: Ljubljana, Lake Bled, Piran, Lake Bohinj.

- Tick-borne encephalitis for anyone walking in the forests or the mountains from spring to autumn — Slovenia has one of the highest rates in Europe

Care for visitors
Excellent and cheap
EU/EEA and Swiss visitors are treated on the same terms as residents with an EHIC or GHIC card; UK visitors use a GHIC. Everyone else pays, and travel insurance is worth having for the repatriation cover rather than the treatment.
Tap water is excellent everywhere, including the mountain huts. The tick-borne encephalitis vaccine is the one genuinely worth having here; locals are vaccinated as children. Mountain rescue is professional and, for the uninsured, expensive.
