Very safeHeat is what actually hurts people here — walks close at 11am in summer for good reason, and three litres of water per person is the official minimum, not a suggestion. Climbing Uluru has been prohibited since 2019 out of respect for Anangu law, and it is enforced. Flies are relentless from September; buy the net hat and stop being proud about it.

Sun is the underrated one — the UV index is extreme by European standards. Swim between the flags; rip currents, not sharks, are what actually drown people.

Ookla publishes no separate figure for Uluru, so these are medians for all of Australia. Cities usually beat the national number and remote islands and national parks fall well below it — treat this as the country's shape, not as a measurement of the street you will be staying on.
