Food tip
OutstandingEat a lampredotto sandwich from a street cart — it is the real Florentine street food. For steak, bistecca alla fiorentina is sold by weight and served rare, no exceptions.

Wine bars, a big student population and a small, walkable set of streets — not a clubbing city.

Why these are Italy's numbers and not Florence's
Home broadband — Good. Comfortable for two people working, streaming in the evening, large downloads. Broadband here runs at 84% of the global median of 130 Mbps.

Ookla publishes no separate figure for Florence, so these are medians for all of Italy. Cities usually beat the national number and remote islands and national parks fall well below it — treat this as the country's shape, not as a measurement of the street you will be staying on.

- Do not sit on monument steps in Rome or Florence; both cities fine it
- Do not order a coffee "to go" and expect it to be normal
